After the Opera: Suggestions Requested...

Simon | Dec 12, 2004 03:14 PM

This friday, a friend and i'll be attending the opera, which concludes 'round 10:30...any ideas on where to go afterward?...criteria: we'll be dressed nicely and likely seeking somewhere that's cozy and elegant...yet, we probably won't want a particularly long or formal meal (i.e. no LeBernardin, no Jewel Bako omakase, though i love both on other occassions -- and before the opera we'll likely have grabbed a coffee or drink in the Cafe Des Artistes parlor room)...so, looking for somewhere open late where we won't be shooed out after 11:00 (Keens will be winding down by then) and where we might order quixotely (i.e. maybe just several appetizers and a dessert, or one shared entree and some dessert and drinks, etc)...geography: Lincoln Center area through midtown would be simplest, but anywhere as far south as Soho would be fine...open to all price ranges: i.e. a counter-programmed casual choice that is delicious and atmospheric could work as easily as something higher end...and, open to literally all cuisines...

Random Thought: Devi?...

Random Question: Picholine: i've never been there: at that hour would they serve us a light, shared dinner or is it too formal a place for that?...
