A friend of mine is nostalgic about the "OO" soup from The China House. I have never been to The China House and have never had the soup, so I have no idea what it is really like or look like. It was described to me as a sort of egg drop soup with all kinds of stuff like bbq pork, chicken and shrimp. I am Chinese and very familiar with Chinese food, but not Westernized Chinese food.
Can someone give me a more detailed description of this soup? I want to recreate this for my friend. I don't think I can hope for a recipe, but any kind of help with be appreciated.
My guess: Lee Kum Kee Chicken Bouillon Powder (to replicate the MSG taste), beaten eggs, bbq pork, shredded chicken, shrimp (large, small, or chopped?), silken tofu (cubed?), chopped green onions as garnish and some corn starch as a thickener. Mushrooms? Green peas? Soy sauce for color?
