Maybe this unusually warm weather has me out eating more, but I am so happy to report a good place at the harbor water area in Newport Beach.
3-Thirty-3 Waterfront. (that's the address on Bayside Drive) You don't need the phone number because they don't take reservations. And, no to-go.
It resides where the Yankee Tavern used to be. I would describe the interior as contemporary, but woody contemporary. It's quite sophisticated with smooth wood and glass. Kind of like an expensive yacht.
They open at 11:30 AM and continue until 2 AM. That's good for me, because sometimes I don't even eat lunch until 2:30 in the afternoon.
I went at lunch time, but I understand many of the lunch items are also on the dinner menu. I am going back soon because there were many things on the menu I want to try.
Potato Encrusted Halibut, spaghetti squash and succotash $15
Kobe Beef Gorgonzola Burger $9
I am waiting to try the Morrocan Spiced Heritage Chicken $15 and their Mac & Cheese (with smoked bacon) $8
Sadly, their clam chowder is not the white New England style (or a true Manhatten either!), but they have another comfort food that might satisfy me in that regard, Chicken Pot Pie $11
I will be happy to sit at the bar and eat their "olives and almonds" dish $7 - imported olives and marcona almonds with wasabi peas (Have they been shopping at Trader Joes's??!)
I think they are going to give Svelte a run for their money. They've been open three weeks. AND, they have a happy hour. Already, they're HOT.
