Another Oaxcan place to try

An added plus of visiting thai aree, beside the chili high, was the discovery of a very neat looking Oaxcan place, Taqueria La Oaxaquena.

I grabbed a menu and its full of great sounding stuff in all catagories. From appetizers there is that rarely seen nachos de cerviche, plus other rarities like casuelitas oaxaquenas (melted cheese with a choice of ingredients). They even offer quesadillas oaxcan style of gringas style.

I would have a tough time with the entrees. There is mole, which is the dish of Oaxca, no? But other dishes also intrigue. Stuffed peppers Oaxcan style, enchiladas Mixtecas (a region in Oaxca, I looked it up), two different versions of tamales just begin the temptation.

Wait, there's more. There are three kinds of tortas, "unicas en chicago" and some even salads, yes salads--how about a baby lettuce with sauteed seafood or romaine lettuce with shrimps tossed with our home dressing.

Finally, save room for dessert. Maybe this place was a diner before it became Oaxcan and they retained the pastry chef. I mean here, no kidding, are the choices: apple pie, pumpkin pie, rice pudding and jello (by the way, that's spelled pay on the menu).

I am anxious to try. Maybe someone's beat me to it.
