This is kind of in reaction to an earlier thread regarding banh mi in Boston vs. NYC.
Based only on a half dozen or so sandwiches eaten in both NYC and Boston, my by-no-means-complete impression is that while there may be a wider selection of banh mi joints in Boston (or at least they're easier to spot--you kind of have to hunt for them in NYC in the backs of video or convenience stores), I've liked my NYC sandwiches more. They seem to be more generous with the fillings (with the sandwiches in Boston, I often have to eat through 2-3 inches of bread before I start hitting filling), and they never fail to toast the bread for you (which hasn't been my experience in all the places I've been here in Boston).
Or maybe I keep missing the really good banh mi places. I'd welcome recommendations.
