I'm new to the list so I apologize if this is old stuff here.
After weekending here for 30+ years I made the move to full-time in July and I dearly miss the Gramercy neighborhood Chinese restaurants.
I am one of the walking wounded orphans from the closing of our Irving Place Szechuan Cuisine and the best Cold Noodles in Manhattan. That all disappeared about seven years ago. Tang Tang at 76th & Third and the other great local noodle houses helped a little.
Now that I am waaaay past the delivery zone, I hunger for some really good Chinese food. Nice tablecloths and ambience like the one in Carmel can't make up for the flavorless and distinctly Midwest textures of the food Ive found here.
Price is no option. Can anybody suggest a really good Chinese restaurant in Southern Dutchess/Putnam/Upper Westchester where they are not afraid of real spices?
Help! The 120 mile round trips into NYC is wearing out the snow tires.
