just back from 4 days in jackson, have some recommendations and one thumbs down. on the plus side ... 1)recommend dinner at nikai, sushi restaurant in town (also have non-sushi fare), high quality food, nice people/service, good wine list 2)snake river grille a bit of a scene, but the food was damn good (recommend horseradish crusted halibut) 3) really enjoyed rendezvous bistro, was told it is owned by son of snake river grille owner but not confirmed --- lower prices, lots of locals, also a nice, reasonable wine list 4) lunch at the amangani, spectacular view and good food, nice scallop sandwich and a nouvell-y type caesar but it works 5)stayed at the 4 seasons, food at the peak, the casual restaurant/bar there, is excellent and they are kid-friendly, place is a little small, best to make reservations. 6) thumbs down to the gunnery --- kind of liked the kitschiness and the taxidermy (looking at a stuffed elk while eating elk), but the food was really mediocre compared to all others above, we sat near the kitchen and watched cook pouring salt on everything, which the expected results, elk and prime rib way oversalted and i would avoid.
