Norwegian Lutefisk Dinner

WildSwede | Nov 2, 2004 06:56 PM

I am not sure if anyone would be interested (or even knows what Lutefisk is), but I thought I would post the information just in case.
The Van Nuys Sons of Norway will be hosting its annual Lutefisk Dinner next weekend, Nov 12 & 13.
Lutefisk is the much joked-about fish (cod) that is preserved like in the days of old in lye and then when it is going to be eaten is soaked in water and boiled. Sounds gross, huh? Actually, it isn't. Well, not when topped with delicious melted butter!
There are also other items that come with the meal - Lefse (Norwegian potato bread - like a tortilla, which you top with butter and brown sugar), potatoes, meatballs with gravy, veggies, other bread (I know about this since my mom eats all my Lefse), dessert.
They also sell many Scandinavian items as well (rosemaling (a Norwegian style of painting), decorations, many other homemade items, books, etc).
If anyone is interested, or has any questions, please email me at the email address above and I will get the info to you. If you would like, you would be more than welcome to join my mom and me when we go.
Lisa
