North End Bakeries?

PinkFrosting | Jan 19, 2006 10:11 PM

I know, I know, another question about the North End. I'm sorry. I haven't been to the North End in years (TOO MANY!) and am looking forward to a lunch at Pizzeria Regina. I am salivating at the thought! And then comes dessert...

So what I would like to know is what are your favorite bakeries in the area? I'm mainly looking for things that I can take to go, maybe even stick some Italian cookies in my freezer. I love all sorts of bakery stuff when they're made really well. Not looking for anything in particular (well, maybe almond macaroons?), just the GOOD STUFF. Desserts, breads, cookies, brownies, flaky things to have with coffee or tea, etc etc.

(BESIDES MIKE'S PASTRY! I'm not a tourist! Thanks!)

And if you can provide street names as well (or walking directions from Regina's), that would be a bonus since I'm so not familiar with the North End.

I'm new on this board (but I've posted before) and I love being in the virtual presence of other foodies! Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
