I am organizing a workshop for graduate students in Charleston in March. It's a long couple of days, so we like to bring everyone together for a nice dinner on the last evening -- good food and wine. We want to go to a nice (comfortable ambiance, knowledgeable waitstaff, accomodating for 25 people) place, one that a grad student wouldn't just go to on his/her own, but nothing too exorbitant since we are on a budget.
I've done some research and am currently considering, High Cotton, 82 Queen, Magnolia and Cypress. After reading other posts, Anson's and FIG have been taken off of my list, but am adding Poogan's Porch and Hank's in their place.
Would appreciate any thoughts or feedback -- really want this to be a "Charleston" experience. Pleasing 25 people is hard, but I would certainly like to try!
- Also -- how is the restaurant at Middleton Place? I was thinking it might be nice to go for dinner and then give everyone the opportunity to walk the grounds...but only if the food is good!
