Nepalese Food?

foodpimp | Aug 20, 2002 02:08 PM

Does anyone know if there is a single Nepalese restaurant anywhere in the outer boroughs, or even in Jersey or the burbs? I recall reading an old 'What Jim Had For Dinner' entry about coaxing a Nepalese employee of a non-Nepalese establishment into preparing a cup of butter tea, and then pronouncing this the first time Nepalese chow has been served in New York. Cute story, but I am wondering if, in the years since this was written, a full blown Nepalese restaurant hasn't opened anywhere? For the record, I have seen Nepalese food offered in at least two places that I know of - the Indo/Pak/Halal Chinese place on Roosevelt between 74th and 75th street, and at Darbar East in Manhattan (first avenue at 14th street). Have not ordered any in either of these places. I am hoping for a place devoted entirely to this cuisine. If anyone has the link to the butter tea episode I mentioned, could they post it? May be helpful if this thread ends up yielding results.
