As if you needed more "yogurt": Green Apple

Green Apple is the latest to join the swirled dessert craze. It's located in a strip mall on Wilshire at Crescent Heights. I've had my eye on the place since the sign went up because I live just footsteps away and am a frozen dessert addict.

The place finally opened on Sunday, and we visited Monday. Along with the now-expected green tea and original flavors, they also offer their signature green apple flavor. The yogurt (though I'm not sure it's really yogurt) is just okay. Decent enough, but a little icy for me, and the green apple flavor didn't do much for me. My boyfriend and I are addicted to Yogo Tango, so if you know what that tastes like, this place isn't even close. I should mention that my bf does NOT like all the yogurty tart flavors that are out there, but he did actually like the original flavor here. It has more of a lemony vibe to it than the usual yogurt flavor we've come to expect (which is why I'm pretty sure it's not actually yogurt). They have all the usual fruit and cereal toppings (but no mochi) chunks of CHEESECAKE! That was exciting.

There are also smoothies, and drumroll please--because this is what I think will save this place from being another spot with mediocre yogurt--fresh crepes! There are lots of filling options. We didn't get a crepe this round, but did try a sample that was sitting on the counter. It was good, though I'm sure a fresh serving would've been much better.

In short, I'll being visiting often, just based on proximity (and to try the crepes), however, I don't know that I'd drive out of my way to go. I'll give them a few weeks to iron out opening kinks, and report back if my opinion changes.
