Nauseous article in Times: Chain Restaurants Invade Manhattan

a few choice quotes from so called NYers patronizing these places:

"We like the bland overpriced food," she explained, about to order the Oriental chicken salad for $10.99. More peals of laughter from the table of hip young New Yorkers: loft in TriBeCa; Web and graphic design firm.

"It's a little bit of the suburbs that you can't get here."

"It's the familiarity and convenience."

they wanted to try Olive Garden because "it reminds us of home."

"Well I can give up a little quality for quantity."

"But Mr. Tankel of Applebee's said there is room for 10 more of his company's restaurants in Manhattan."

I think I might have to vomit. I am very wary of any snobbiness I might exude on chowhound but I think these places suck and are a blight on the chow landscape.
