Our Wednesday dinner group went last night. There was some grumbling about going 'all the way' to Swannanoa from Asheville, but it was well worth the trip. At 6:30 the place was pretty full, with a lot of families and some couples.
Twelve of us sat down, got wine and started with the menu. House made chips with pimento cheese and horseradish dip - very good. Arugula salad with duck bacon, over easy duck egg, pistachio and dried cranberries - my favorite. Shrimp tacos with a lime/cilantro sauce - yummy. Catfish Ruben (sounds weird) could have easily fed 2, but the guy that had it didn't even share one bite - and he ate it all. Absolute hit of the evening was the pork chop with roasted Brussels sprouts and cheese grits with tasso ham - WOW! Pizza was good (could have used a crisper bottom), but with all the great things on the menu I wouldn't bother with pizza.
Prices are very reasonable. Our server - Cici - was great and really gave some good advice in re menu choices. Paying was fun ~ this is the first place I've seen in WNC where they bring you an iPad, you swipe your card and can get an email receipt.
Music started around 7 pm - kind of like Sunday afternoons at Jack of the Wood - and it was great. They also have a large patio and maybe a outside game area of some kind (corn hole?).
