narrowing down: sugiyama or sono without res. for tonight!

So, they both sound great. I read the ravest reviews for Sugiyama in the archives, but it sounds like dinner for 2 with drinks will cost $200. I don't know if that's true, but I'm not sure what I'd get for the $45 or so kaiseki dinners.
Disregarding money, can anyone compare or offer advice? What are the differences between the kaisekis at Sugiyama? Sono sounds pretty fantastic, but then I was reading a review from 2000.
Can I bring wine to either place? Any comments on wine lists? Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
