My wife and I recently ate lunch at Mt. Fuji in Durham, NC. We will not be returning. There were issues with regard to service and food prep.
We ordered a dumpling appetizer, Thai Beef Basil, and a sushi/tempura dish. The meal began ominously with the premature arrival of my wife's sushi, followed some 5 minutes later by the dumplings. These unremarkable dumplings were clearly pored out of a commercial package into the deep fryer. The sushi smelled unduly fishy. Another 10 minutes or so later the tempura arrived. I had a sweet potato slice that was good, but the overall effect was somewhat tarnished when my wife nearly choked on a tooth pick (with deep fried plastic curlicues) that had been left embedded in a slice of onion. Lest you forget, although my wife had finished her meal (it was a business lunch hour!), mine was nowhere in sight. Actually, I think the guy behind me was served the Beef Basil. Without a word of explanation (It will be a few minutes sir. . .), I was left cooling my heels. Finally, the food arrived. I bolted it down--it was ok. A bit murky and under spiced, but it was about 2:15 and I was hungry and late.

Synopsis: Over-priced and poorly prepared food served by a rank amateur. Oh, on the plus side, the restaurant décor was nice and (perhaps, prophetically) the under populated dining room makes conversation quite easy. Unfortunately, all we really talked about was Mt. Fuji . . .
