Few postings about new restaurants so I need to get back in the groove.
A new upmarket restaurant in central opened up by Maximal Concepts (Brickhouse, Blue Butcher, and Meat & Fish. It's Guangdong cuisine with a modern restaurant makeover so lots of high end design. It sits under the main Standard Chartered building in Central, and by under I really mean under as its quite someway down to the restaurant (enter through the bank).
We went for a quick weekday dim sum lunch and I am pleased to say it was very very good with very high quality dishes.
However its not cheap. We ate Har Gau ($65), Wild Mushroom Dumplings ($65), Crispy Prawn Cheung Fan ($80), turnip Cake ($55), Crispy Pork Bun ($60), KauChoy Dumpling ($55), and Custard Buns ($55). So plus tea at $25 a head it came to $534 which is about double a standard dim sum lunch.
Is it worth it? Well the other hot new dim sum spot is "The Boss" also in Central and my wife ate there last week. Overall she felt Mott 32 had the edge in most dishes, yet felt it should at this price point. If you go for the BBQ' and Roast meats you could easily push the bill to stratospheric levels.
Would I go back - yes the food is good (but only if I wasn't paying).
