Morsels - Ruidoso, New Mexico

Had a wonderful dinner @ Morsels in Ruidoso last evening. It is an independent Chef owned Restaurant. Chef Kristian Markland has trained in Napa @ French Laundry and most recently worked @ Okada at the Wynn in Las Vegas. His menu is eclectic, well presented and well priced and on par w/ some of the best restaurants in major markets!

Morsels is a beautiful space....perfect lighting and beautiful ambiance.

I dined w/ a colleague and we started by sharing 2 appetizers. A shrimp in an herb oil and a flavorful creamy based chili sauce... and an order of salt cod with potato paired w/ a homemade rosemary bread. The menu offers a nice selection of New Mexico wines along w/ California offerings. We went for a local Cabernet from Deming NM...we had it decanted, it paired nicely w/ our choices. For entree we both chose the Lamb Shank penne. The lamb was tender melt in your mouth and the penne cooked al dente.
We finished the meal w/ a cheese plate...the 2 standouts were the manchego and the house made ricotta which again paired beautifully w/ the wine! All was well priced....

I highly recommend Morsels if you find yourself in the Ruidoso area...it's worth the trip!
