went last night with two friends after a movie (9:15)...sat at a table, as sushi bar was full. pleasant, simple ambiance. clientele exclusively well heeled, caucasian westsiders. service was friendly, but a little inept.
as for the food, we ordered a la carte (not omakase). the halibut carpaccio was excellent, eggplant ok, soft shell crab special tasty and crispy. sushi came on a long stone plank - the fish was too warm for my taste, and none of the sushi had any special sauces or garnishes (ie: ponzu on spanish mackerel).
we shared a couple beers and sakes.
bill was $195 before tip!!!! now i just returned from a three week trip to italy/austria where we (my wife and four year old daughter) ate like kings and, with the exception of da fiore (a one star restaurant in Venice-great food), did not spend more than $80 the whole time.
$75 a person for a pleasant snack is a rip-off. this is a restaurant i would return to if the prices were cut in half.
wish i had gone to furiabo (sp??) and had the chicken wings instead. better food and would have saved $50.
