Monte Alban - Oaxacan in WLA

Senor Popusa | Mar 15, 2005 05:02 PM

I had lunch at Monte Alban today for the first time in a while. It was as good and even more reasonable than I remembered.

M.A. specializes in moles and other Oaxacan dishes. I had the yellow mole chicken with rice and I was able to try the green mole chicken as well. Both had a little kick but I preferred the yellow mole. The chicken was two chicken breasts which were juicy and was flavored by dry chiles, pepper and cumin. I drank a jarrito of Grapefruit soda, which was refreshing. I also tried the papaya juice, which was also enjoyable.

At lunch all the entrees (except for the seafood) are $6. At dinner these non-seafood entrees go up to a whopping $8. There was ample parking in the minimall, as well as meters on the street.

I give bonus points to any place that has goat on the menu. I had the barbacoa last time I was there and am going to have to order it next time I go back...
