We have a guy's ski trip planned to Tremblant in mid-January. As the subject header suggests, we are seven 40 year olds and we are coming up from NYC. We have done extensive research and wanted to bounce this off of any 'hounds with Tremblant experience.
We are staying in a house that is 2 miles south of the pedestrian village nr. the Geant golf course. We are on the shuttle bus circuit, but haven't yet decided whether we will also be renting cars -- most likely, yes, since we want to go to Jovite.
On the eve of our arrival, we would like to do casual burgers or steaks, etc. and poutine, BUT all accounts suggest that we will be met with severe mediocrity. If we have a car, I am tempted to drag everybody out to LE P'TIT STOP for the poutine, however, that seems like more trouble than it is worth, esp. on the first night. I though maybe we could just settle for LA FORGE or somewhere in the pedestrian village , but I have seen no evidence that we would be in for a decent meal (certainly not on the poutine front). Anyone beg to differ? It's hard to believe we can't get a good, casual meal by the mountaiN!
Anyhow, now I am thinking we should do fondue and raclette at LA SAVOIE on the first night. If that is the case, we will try and go for French on the second night. PETIT CACHEE gets a lot of love, but I could do without the Mediterranean influence. Similarly, CHEVAL DU JADE seems like a strong bet, however, some in our group are not big seafood/fish-eaters so their menu may present a problem. We are also considering AUX TRUFFES and Q, but both are considerably more expensive (and in the case of Q, I am weary of a hotel setting). It bears mention that I am thinking of French bistro food, however, none of these seem to fit that bill (roast chicken, cassoulet, etc.).
I think we should set out to sEb for our last night.
We will make sure to hit CREPERIE CATHERINE, too. We are definitely avoiding Italian or pizza, etc. since we live in NYC!
For apres-ski/nightlife, it seems like we need have an obligatory drink at P'TIT CARIBOU (although this place seems a little too young for us), and also check out LA DIABLE, FAT MARDI'S, LA FORGE, and LE SHACK.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have scoured the boards and filtered my finding down into this list, but maybe I missed the boat on something? Thanks!
