A modest pleasure on Michigan Ave.

It occurred to me that I haven't seen a post on the Nordstrom Cafe', but then I haven't been around as a hound forever, either. The cafe' is located on the fourth floor of Nordstrom, in the southwest corner by kid's shoes. They're open as long as the store is open, I think, and have freshly prepared food at reasonable [for north Michigan Ave.] prices. There's an omlette [same thing everyday, I think, but it's a nice spinach/ham/cheese deal], croissant & egg, good coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt for breakfast. A nice dessert case. They make small pizzas to order that are very flavorful [Saturday a roasted veggie, a bbq chicken with caramelized onions, a 'shroom/sausage/mushroom pizza they called a New York, and a margherita (sp?)] and have a wonderful crunchy thin crust, nice sandwiches, pastas, salads including a chinese chicken on that is very popular with people I've dined with [haven't had one myself yet]. Service is order at the counter/delivery at the table, with refills on the coffee and plate clearage by very nice people. The room has nice windows [important to me because I usually work in areas with no windows]. Not a destination stop, but a wonderful oasis of quality and value in the area.
