Went to Mitsuwa on a small mission, but of course I ended up buying things I shouldn't buy, eating the delicious Special Pork Ramen (Salt) and at the end almost totally forgot to do what I went there to do!
Anyhow, I got the regular size ($9.99) of the "Special Pork Ramen", which has the pork slices(8) on a separate plate with long slices of bamboo, woodears, scallions, and a tiny hard plum. The broth (mine was Shio, or Salt flavored. Soy sauce and spicy miso were the other two choices for broth)was creme colored, the noodles yellow and curly. The tender pork slices had some delicious fatty edges, not so much the pork belly cut, but just the right amount of fat. The fatty part was so good I think I saw the back of my head as I rolled my eyes....
The little tart plum was a must, though, after the rich broth and pork.
Mitsuwa is undergoing some renovation. A lot of the stands were not there. Some have been moved within the same space. The bathrooms are now quite beautiful, and about 3 times bigger. If you want to go have Santoka's Ramen, better go this weekend. Or you'll have to wait until the 15th of October.
The bookstore and the gift store across the street from the super market will be open, by the way. Just no food court nor food market.
