Trying to get a sense of the food touring/lunching options for my trip in July. Always up for Mexican or Latin-American food. Mission area in SF and Fruitvale area in Oakland appear to be the south of the border favorites here.
I am quite familiar with Mexican-American food, taqueria food, and even authentic Mexican street foods. So, I have a couple questions:
1) Which district is better and why and for what?
2) Are either going to come across especially interesting -- ie, go far beyond burritos, tacos, and quesadillas with carne asada, pollo, and al pastor?
