At Joy Luck Palace, they rolled out something new, a variation on the classic egg tarts. They called these Milk Tarts ("nai taht"), but in reality, the custard portion is the same as what you get in a double-boiled egg custard dessert. Soft, creamy, custardy goodness and subtle in sweetness.
All in all, it was well executed and exactly as you'd expect taste-wise if you've had that dessert before. I like it much better than the standard version. Does any other place do this, or is this a one-off invention?
If you want to experience this for yourself, I'm not sure if they'll show up again, but weekend is when they roll out their experimental dishes, so going early (before 11 AM) on Saturday or Sunday is your best bet.
