Last night I went with two friends to check out this place on Valencia and 15th in the Mission. For appetizers we had the Platillo Mi Lindo Yucatan, a spread of most of their appetizers (2 small each): Polcanes, Empanadas, Panuchos, Salbutes, Tamales, Flautas and Chilindritas. I can't say how these compare because Ive never had them before, but they were very, very tasty. A huge platter was $10.75 I believe. We also had the house salad which was pretty underwhelming but had a good lemon lime dressing and some kind of cheese sprinkled on top. The salsas that came with the chips were good - one was REALLY HOT. Whew.
We shares the following main dishes: Cochinita Pibil, which was a slow-roasted pork wrapped in banana leaves with achiote seasoning. This was YUMMY. Very tender, moist pork, and a delicious sauce, like a stew almost. The other dish we shared was the Poc-Chuc, charbroiled, marinated pork, came in small pieces with chopped radishes, beans, etc. Not as good as the first but also really good. The tortillas were OUTSTANDING - almost overshadowed the rest of the meal!
Those dishes, along with 4 beers, for around $50. Great little spot, and very friendly staff that cares that you have a nice time there! I'll definitely be back for more latino comfort food soon.
