Just got back from a very tasty lunch with two fellow grad students at this very friendly Dominican cafe. I had the lunch special, a huge serving of sauteed chunks of boneless chicken breast in a peppery sauce, chicken wings sauteed in lime, thick-cut fried plantain rounds, rice laced with sauteed bell pepper strips, and black beans. All this for $5.99. I also had a large mango-papaya batido (milk shake) for $3.50.
My fellow students were too timid to try the Dominican food so they ordered from the extensive gringo side of the menu. The curried chicken salad with apple looked tasty.
Everyone is really very welcoming and patient in explaining the large menu. They are now open seven days a week (they used to be closed Tuesdays), but don't seem to be open for breakfast on weekdays anymore, just weekends.
