Mexican dressed corn on the cob?

I was second in line at a popular taco trailer last night and saw the proprietor take from a huge steaming pot ears of bright-yellow corn on the cob, move them out of my sight, and return with them several minutes later. Upon their return, the ears appeared in the dim light to have been coated with something white that looked like powdered sugar and coconut flakes. Does anyone know what had been put on the corn? What's this dish called? How's it taste? Thanks. (The trailer is in the backlot of Supermercado de Joliet on the NW corner of Cass and Collins Streets near Joliet Central High School. The only fare listed on the menu is tacos at $1 each. I like the al pastor, especially the sauce.)
