A couple weeks ago, I reported on a trip to Mex & Co, on Columbus and 83. The name is still silly, but everything else is very good indeed. The service has improved, as they have started working out the kinks.
We started with guacamole made at the table. I think this is the best I've had. Not sure what went in (although I watched) but definitely onions, tomatoes, a bunch of spices and, of course, avocado. It was left a little chunky (which I like) rather than a psste. Delicious.
For mains, I had the skirt steak. While it was less 'gamy' than this sometimes is (and that's one of the reasons I like it) it was still very flavorful. Served with some variation on chimichurri sauce, but I think it was a marinade, rather than a topping. Also fried yuca and a corn-scallion combination (they called it salad, but I wouldn't - it was served under the steak, and got a little cookdd....but good).
My wife had roast chicken with green rice; she said that it was also very good.
Entrees were in the $15 to $20 range
