I've read a few not so great reveiws of this place recently and thought I would give mine. I ate there tonite and while it wasn't busy, I could see how the sound could get loud when it's busy. I didn't really get the Pizzeria Uno, Bertuccis vibe that people have mentioned.It didn't have all the fake European decor you would find in one of those places. I will agree that the small booths and tables weren't the most feet friendly.
Now the food. Everything I ate was outstanding. I started with a 1/2 dozen of the Cape Neddick Oysters. They were fresh, plump and perfectly shucked, which is more than I can say for Mcormick& Schmidts the last couple of times I've been there. There is alot to be said about a perfectly shucked oyster. Secondly I had the Nantucket Scallops, in my mind the best scallop in the world. They were done St. Jaques style in the shell with the bellies still on. Now I know these are 2 not very complicating dishes but I've seen them screwed up enough.
Now for the entrees. I had the Lamb and my friend had the Duck. Both were cooked perfectly.The lamb was fall off the bone but not fall apart and seasoned just right with a tasty couscous. The duck was very crispy skinned and medium rare to medium with small potatoes, chestnuts and pommegrante seeds. Both dishes were cooked, seasoned and presented exactly the way I wanted.I did not have dessert so I can't give a comment on that.
Overall I was very impressed with my experience and urge those who weren't to give it another try.
