I am looking for a starter and side for this menu that I am preparing this weekend for a small dinner party:

1st course - Butternut Squash Soup with Cider Cream
Entree - Braised Short Ribs with Horseradish Gremolata

I'm thinking either green beans w/almonds or brussel sprouts w/ pancetta as a side.

Would like to have a nice starter, perhaps a salad, or something light, prior to the soup. Perhaps something we can have over cocktails??

Will have a cheese plate and store bought dessert.
