Matteo's in Howard Beach...HEAVY on the tummy...

Had the fried zucchini which had a nice touch as it was cut into strips but wow, I hadn't eaten fried food in a while, so after having the shrimp w/ house sauce that was similar to a scampi as well as being breaded, boy was I feeling in! Overall too greasy for my taste but I could see how fans of Italian would flock to this place. The nice touch on serving the salads and pasta dishes home style add to the ambiance which was VERY loud. The wait staff whoops it up for birthdays/anniversaries which adds to the volume but, hey, it is Italian. With the appetizer, 2 glasses of house Chianti, 2 entrees & 2 coffees it came to $72.50 so be prepared to spend...I regret not trying some of the various ways they prepare fish and as the host said "I can do it any way you want". And for 2 people, on a Sat. night we had no wait...we were about the only couple there as they really seem to cater to parties of 6-10...
