More Masala Madras

I am a junky for Indian food since I was surrounded by relatives who served the Raj and then spent the rest of their lives gobbling curries and pappadums, we gave MM another look. This time for the lunch buffet at $7.95.

I want very much to like this restaurant because its close to our house, I love Indian food and I am tired of being disappointed by Ambala.

The lunch buffet had a large variety - lamb khorma, chicken khorma, butter chicken, lots of vegetable and vegetarian dishes BUT finding out the names was tough - the dishes were identified by handwritten notices in faint pencil (the room is quite dark) and the chicken is referred to as 'chn'. Had to ask what they meant. Some of the dishes were excellent, like lamb khorma, the fresh dosas, the creamy tapioca like pudding, yum. Other dishes were not heated through and confusing like large lumps of potato with the spinach which I thought should have included the cheese cubes. I told the wait person that the dishes needed to be identified but this suggestion was met with a blank stare.

Every time I go to Jaipur, I think rhapsodic thoughts - not so here. I hope it improves - the concept needs a little marketing and some care in serving warmer food.
