So last week i went to check out the new Marigold dining room in west philly.
Restaurant is located at 45th and Larchwood..about 6 blocks south of walnut.
Interesting facts...owner and 3 primary cooks all worked as line cooks at SALT which was my fave place till it closed. The Salt influence is obvious but much less complicated food. For a first week dinner, food was excellent, prices were reasonable and I definitely see a slight influence of Vernon Morales (salt chef )
Started with a shiitake risotto with roasted squash and fried sage for $8
entrees were Veal cheeks with fennel, white beans and redpepper fennel marmalde...tasty...$17
also a roast wild striped bass with serrano ham, caramelized parsnips and saffron mussel broth...$18
All in all we had a great time and expect the food to be better. restaurant was BYOB.
Shared two desserts....banana choc bread pudding with malted milk IC and earl grey scented chocolate croquettes with Yoghurt Orange semifreddo...yummy good.
$64 for 2 plus tax and tip for fairly ambitious food.
We are definitely returning Asap.
