This came up a few weeks back - now I've tried Maple's, which is on Forest avenue right near Thinh Thinh 2 (or however it's spelled) - sort of near Pleasant St. Not sure of the exact cross street.
This place is seriously good. They specialize in organic ice cream w/ a few baked goods, and they have flavors like Chai (outstanding), Maple Praline Pecan, Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate, Strawberries and Cream and more. I tried about 5 of the flavors (there were three of us) and they were all particularly excellent. The ice cream has a wonderful, almost grainy consistency that I've only experienced a couple of times before. There used to be a place in Westchester, NY that was called Egg Farm Dairy, and they made a similar product (but now they changed their name to Cows Outside and only sell cheese).
When I was there there was a lovely if somewhat overwhelmed guy working behind the counter - he told me he was a baker, and he couldn't actually find any spoons, but that was just endearing.
They only have about 8 flavors - compare to the homogonized sameness of places like Beal's and even Smiling Hill Farm, where you get 35+ flavors of average average ice cream.
So run don't walk - Maple's is for real.
