My girlfriend and I are visiting Manhattan next week for three days and two nights. We're looking for some restaurants that will make this trip memorable, emphasis on the food. All other considerations, i.e. atmosphere, price, etc. are secondary. We'll be staying in Midtown but willing to go anywhere in Manhattan.
Here's some general areas of cuisine we might be looking for:
Japanese - what are some good places for sushi? Especially if they have otoro or at least chutoro, good shrimp tempura, tonkatsu, curry?
Korean - best galbi or a soondooboo house? She lives near Fort Lee so it better be good!
Thai - best pad see iew?
Chinese - best congee (Cantonese style), dimsum, or salt pepper pork? (jiao yen pai gu)
Italian - heard one of the Batali restaurants might be nice, or Il Mulino? Most likely we'd go Italian for dinner, not lunch.
Spanish - mussels! Best paella? sangria? Vivia en barcelona por unos meses so even a bocadillo shop would be much appreciated.
Miscellaneous cravings - Mussels, mussels mussels, pizza, pho, gelato - all I can think of right now.
We'll pass on Indian food or steakhouses but any other recommendations are welcome - seeing as we're college students it'd be nice if we could spend less than 60/person not including alcohol.
All opinions are welcome, thanks for reading this long post, and thanks for your help!
