Old Man Rafferty's (New Brunswick)

Went to OMR tonite for dinner on a cold drizzly evening. It was very quiet and slow.

Now, we've been going to Raffertys for years and years, and the food is usually very good (and the service is usually very spotty - all airheaded college kids) but we go back because of its menu diversity and generally good food.

Tonite, we had our usual Tomato-Basil soup (as always, excellent) and the dinner salads - love their balsamic dressing.

I ordered the Grilled Salmon (YES, its a big no-no on a Monday nite but i really wanted it)... and my companion ordered the sliced steak sandwich (aka London Broil) which as usual, she wanted very well-done. (I also made a point to specifically order my salmon so it would be MOIST and not overcooked).

We waited a very long time (for her steak to be burned).... and the entrees came out.
My salmon was cold.
My baked potato was ICE cold.
The spinach under the salmon was cold.
Her steak was cold.
etc etc etc.

This was VERY upsetting. Im sure that what they did was cook my salmon, plate it, and leave it sitting under a heat lamp (i wonder if they had the heat lamp ON)... but it was strange that her steak would be cold, considering it had just (theoretically) come off the grill or out of the oven being cooked well-done...

We complained, and sent everything back. They comped us the dinner since we didnt eat it.
Our waitress was very upset (interesting side note - she was actually a GOOD waitress for once) and she gave us 3 pieces of cake to go.
(ok, so i happen to know that it was the 3 "last" pieces of 3 different cakes that were sitting around on a plate... so they might not be very fresh) but it was the gesture that counted.

We tipped her nicely even though we didnt pay for our meal.

Total cost of meal: $5.00 tip.

I guess we will go back eventually, but.. this was very dissappointing.
