so my mama is a huge foodie like myself! she's flying in from southern california to visit for a week and requests i take her to unusual places, cuisines we don't have readily available in california, mom and pops, hard to find...restaurants and food stands to that nature! i also am not really interested in taking her to any upscale places other than babbo and the dessert tasting menu at wd-50 (loved it)
here's what i've got so far:
desserts at wd-50
*that little russian way out in brighton beach someone here recommended
village mingala (burmese)
maybe brunch at balthazar for french (or somewhere else better you can recommend?)
i'd like to find the best portuguese, brazilian, cuban, turkish, lebanese, greek, and eastern european restaurants.
so can you guys please help point me to some unusual restaurants? obviously nothing like mexican or thai which california is LOADED with. :) cheers.
