Given how much I would like to see Maggie Moore's succeed and anchor the "new East side" in Baltimore, I'm sorry to report that I was served a close to inedible $10 hamburger last night.

Looking for a safe bet, I ordered the Blarney Burger cooked medium. The patty I received was very well done, dry, and flavorless. The multi-grain bun was small and so stale that it began to crumble as soon as I picked it up.

Three bites in, the waiter asked how it was. I told him that actually it wasn't very good. He didn't seem surprised and immediatly guessed correctly that it had been overcooked. He didn't take my plate away (I didn't ask him to), but he told me that he would take my concern to the kitchen. Maybe he did do this, but he never reported back. I didn't eat any more of the offensive sandwich, but did polish off the fries (Hey, I was hungry). The check was not adjusted at the end of the meal.

At this point, I have worked my way through most of the sandwich portion of the menu and the only item I would recommend (albeit halfheartedly) is the pulled pork sandwich (a little sweet, but still decent). I was not impressed with the flank steak sandwich (again, overcooked) or the fish and chips (slightly flabby and tasteless).

Again, I'm sorry to pan the kitchen like this given the inviting atmosphere and genial staff, but I doubt I'll eat there again.
