Lupita is a small mexican restaurant on Valley blvd. at Fremont, located in a strip mall next to a gas station, where I've been told it has been in business for at least twenty years. It is a family run place with a homey and comfortable atmosphere despite its cramped interior.
Hard shell tacos are freshly fried, filled with chicked or shredded beef, and are a pleasant bite of cruchy tortilla, salty meat, iceberg, tomato, and white cheese, leaking grease from the bottom with every bite.
Flautas and taquitos are similar, minus the veggies for contrast but gooped up with a pleasant enough guacamole. Tostatas are essentially flat versions of the tacos. Chicken mole burritos are an interesting change of pace, although the mole itself is a little flaty flavored. Sopes are quite good.
This place came highly recommended, so I popped in on my way home from CSU. But after a week of comparitive eating at personally unexplored Mexican places, this place is only a few notches above ok. Again, though, the sopes and hard tacos are worth a stop if you have the munchies as you're driving by.
I wonder about the Taco Room down by the entrance to the college on valley-I'll let everyone know on tuesday.
peace and grub everyone
