I just started working at the NYU School of Medicine (First Ave. and 33rd St.), and I am beginning to fear that the surrounding neighborhood is a gastronomic wasteland. Please tell me this is wrong.
So far my lunches have consisted of awful Kung Pao chicken that caused a splitting headache, a decent but overpriced pastrami sandwich, and some edible but non-descript pizza. There must be something better out there.
Since I'm talking about lunch during work time, I really don't care about ambiance or service -- I just want it to be fast, good, and, preferably, cheap. I am willing to walk several blocks if there is a payoff at the end.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
