We had a very nice lunch today at Z Bistro, which I had not visited in quite a while since they're 30 miles away from where we live in Reno. The chef (Gilles) is from Brittany, his wife (Tina) runs the dining area, and their young son (Logan) brings out some very good bread.
We each had soup - French Onion for one of us, and a soup made with Swiss chard and andouille sausage for the other; then we split one of the specials - coq au vin.
Everything was delicious, and the ambience was quite nice.
I asked Tina if they ever did a special dinner focused on the foods of Brittany. She told me that many of the dishes on the three evenings per week they serve dinner come from Brittany, but they would be interested in doing a special dinner focused on Brittany if they could also arrange wine pairings with the dishes.
Sounds like this kind of dinner, focused on the food of the chef's homeland, would be a fun thing to do!
