DH and I celebrated our anniversary at Ludal in North Haven last night, and were pleasantly surprised at both the offerings and the price. They had renovated a couple of years ago and we had not been there since the renovations, which include a nice bar area with plasma TV's and an entensive martini list ($7.00 - not bad, considering most other places get $9-$10). DH had an ENORMOUS steak with peppercorn sauce with salad and pommes frites for little more that what you'd pay at Outback. I had a tremendous grilled shrimp and scallop dish in a pesto cream sauce over angel hair, also with salad.
With 2 drinks, 2 bowls of lobster bisque and 1 shared dessert, the whole meal came to about $74.00, excluding tip. I guess what I'm getting at is that, if we were in downtown New Haven, we would have paid AT LEAST 20% more for this meal, and paid for parking, too.
Great food and drink, and wonderful attentive but not intrusive service will definately make us venture out into this suburban gem again. A totally enjoyable experience.
