I'm not a huge Lyndell's fan, but I'm really enjoying them this spring.
They have little shamrock-shaped sugar cookies right now, sprinkled with green sugar, that are a lovely example of "do a simple thing well." Just-brown on all the edges; fine crumb; sweet and buttery; sprinkled with crunchy green sugar. Sure, you could do sugar cookies at home, and usually I'd recommend that. But if your oven has hot spots, you won't get this lovely, consistent browning on the edges.
I am also craving the Hot Cross Buns. Best in my life - yeasty dough; a satisfying proportion of fruit goodies within (more than just currants); and zap-sweet icing that mixes with the dough as you eat. I think that awesome is listed as an ingredients, but I haven't asked.
Sadly, the eclairs continue to sog in the display case, filled with meh pastry cream. Can't have everything.
