Lou Lou: Fort Greene's finest?

I've now had two very nice meals at Lou Lou in Fort Greene. Both were on Saturday nights, both times we sat in the charming little garden out back, and both times the service was brisk, professional, and wholly without attitude of any sort.

Is it me, or is this place a bit under-rated, or at least under-discussed?

Highlights included a wonderful twist on bouillabaisse, impeccably fresh shellfish in a spicy red curry sauce; a well-made arugula salad with plenty of high-quality blue cheese; seared halibut in buerre blanc with haricot verts; moules frites, done well; and a half bottle of a nice little Bandol rose for just $12. We also had two desserts: blueberry tart, which was like a very high-class pop tart (high praise); and flourless chocolate cake, an airy, buttery, and satisfying take on that warhorse.

I was surprised that Chez Oskar--which I like very much, but whose food and service are no match for Lou Lou--and the execrable Madiba were both almost packed, while Lou Lou was operating at about half capacity, during the Saturday night peak.

The prices are right in line with Chez Oskar, Madiba, Café Lafayette, and A Table, and I think it's the best of the bunch.
