Long Beach Gelato Alert

LBQT | Jul 31, 2003 07:03 PM

It's the middle of the summer and you want something cold and refreshing. Head down to Belmont Shore for the ocean breeze and incredibly delicious gelato at Aroma di Roma. They offer the usual espresso drinks (way better than the chains, IMHO) and delicious panini sandwiches (order a half - they're huge!) The real reason to pop in is the gelato. Creamy, smooth, mouth-watering gelato. Flavors changed daily. Today I tasted ginger, fig, and maple before settling on the maple. The flavors were deep, yet not overpowering, and not cloyingly sweet. There were other fruit flavors, along with the obligatory chocolates, vanilla, and espresso, that looked awfully tempting, and about half a dozen sorbets. There are a few tables inside and a small patio. Open fr breakfast every day, til 11 p.m. except for Fri and Sat, when they're there til midnight.
