The Local

I haven't seen anyone mention The Local, the fabulous restaurant that opened in on Olive Way, Capitol Hill, in the old and filthy (but sometimes lovable) Green Cat location. The food is amazing--fresh, simple but not plain, delicious and really fair prices. Lunch is a steal and dinner is great. I live nearby and have tried virtually everything on the menu. Everyone turns up for brunch, I think the word is out, but lunch and dinner are also great. Lunch--try the portabello mushroom with red and orange peppers on french bread with light cheese and side salad (for about 7.95!) or the soup and Nappa cabbage (YES) with roasted sweet walnuts and blue cheese and nice dressing. All the lunch items are great. Dinner, same, but the pork chop and herbed dover sole are special. They've changed the menu a bit since they opened so if you've been try again. It's my Local and I want them to stay around. Parking isn't an excuse, there is the pay lot near the Starbucks!
