We had dinner last night at The Lobster at the beginning of the Santa Monica Pier. It was an excellent experience. We were the recipients of a gift certificate and were well treated and well fed. The meal featured a creative menu of fresh seafood and other options. Compudad had an oyster sampler plate and I began with a Crab Louis cocktail. They were both very good. My crab was quite generous. Dad went on to have a 2 1/2 lb steamed lobster. It was succulent and sweet. He loved it! I had a golden beet and fig salad. I had them make it with mixed greens rather than arugula which was no problem. It had pieces of serrano ham and a hard cheese tossed with a fig balsamic. Additionally there were fresh figs dressed with a creamy sauce that had a bit of a bite. A delicious combination and a good choice.
Dessert was an outstanding chocolate bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream, a creamy sauce (on the side) and garnished with fresh strawberries.
Our waiter, Michael, was excellent. Very attuned to my food allergies and quick to change something or offer a substitution if necessary. All in all an excellent meal and a great evening. You must make reservations, they were jammed!
