I am posting this on the "Toronto" board because it seems to have evolved into a "Southern Ontario" board, but this message is directed to 'hounds in the Hamilton/Niagara regions.
I am the new President of Les Marmitons Niagara, which is a new chapter of a men's cooking club that has chapters throughout North America. Our motto is "From Friendship to Gastronomy". The concept is that we gather once a month at a cooking school, and, under the direction of a guest chef, who guides us in cooking a meal. We then share the meal and appropriately-mated wines with the chef, who critiques our performance. There has been a Toronto chapter for some time, working out of the Humber College facility.
Our inaugural event will be held on Monday, October 4, 2004, under the direction of Mark Hand at the brand-new Niagara Culinary Institute at Niagara College's Glendale Campus. This facility is outstanding, and we are excited the Mark (the Corporate Chef for the College) has agreed to be our first guest chef. All of our regular events will be held at NCI, which has been very supportive of our efforts to start a local chapter.
If there are any 'hounds in the Hamilton/Niagara area who would be interested in joining the club, we are looking for more members, so please send me an e-mail for more information. I have also included a link below to the Marmitons International website, which gives more information about the club and its various chapters.
