The restaurant is beautifully situated with views of New Haven Harbor from both the restaurant and bar. We enjoyed a lunch at Leon's ordering off the New Haven restaurant week's $16.38, 3-course menu. We each ordered a glass of Peter Lehman's cabernet. My wife chose to start with the bountiful arugula salad that included candied walnuts and goat cheese in delicious vinaigrette. My appetizer was a large portion of pane cotto - bread salad with cannelloni beans, escarole, garlic and chicken broth - delicious. For an entrée my wife chose salmon; 5-6 ounce portion topped with a saffron sauce and accompanied by roasted cauliflower and asparagus. My substantial entrée was pork Calabrese; two large slices of slightly overcooked pork loin, roasted potatoes, green plum tomatoes, hot peppers, garlic, fennel and herbs. We finished off the meal with slices of average tasting NY cheesecake. Our server, Thomas, was slow as molasses and gave every impression he would have preferred to be elsewhere. Overall the meal was above average.
